Tour Plan

Day 1 | Marrakech or Agadir – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz

Your driver will meet you at your accommodation at 8 AM. Depart from Marrakech or Agadir and head toward the breathtaking Atlas Mountains, passing through dense forests along one of Morocco’s most scenic and winding routes.

If departing from Marrakech, you will cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,200 meters, marking the entrance to the Great South. Along the way, stop to visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village famous for its striking kasbahs.

Continue through Ouarzazate, then travel through the dramatic Draa Gorges, reaching 1,700 meters, where you’ll witness the stunning panorama of the legendary Draa Valley.

Arrive in Agdz, where you can visit the village of the Black people and explore the historic Ksar of Tamnougalt.

Settle into your accommodation in a Kasbah or hotel, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2 | Agdz – Zagora – M’hamid

After breakfast, take an off-road journey to explore the prehistoric rock engravings at Foum Chenna. Then, continue toward Zagora, where you'll visit the nearby village of Amezrou, known for its Jewish heritage, including an old adobe synagogue and traditional silver jewelry craftsmanship.

Further along, in Tamegroute, you’ll discover the famous emerald-green pottery, crafted in traditional stoves and widely used in mosque tiles, dishes, and pots across Morocco. You can also visit the Nassiria Library, which houses a 10-century-old gold-engraved Quran along with ancient manuscripts on astronomy, medicine, and Arabic poetry.

Before leaving the paved roads and entering the Sahara, we recommend visiting a traditional ksar and enjoying lunch in M’hamid.

From M’hamid, you will cross different types of desert terrain before reaching the dunes of Ergs Nkhal—with the final stretch of the journey completed by camel ride.

Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a private boutique tent equipped with an en-suite shower and toilet.

Day 3 | M’hamid – Erg Chigaga Desert

Today is a more relaxed and immersive day in the desert. After breakfast, your driver will take you to visit some of the local nomads, giving you the opportunity to experience their traditional way of life and share a cup of tea with them—a symbol of their warm hospitality.

Next, visit the sacred oasis of Oum Laalag, a peaceful and historic site in the desert.

Return to the camp for lunch, then, in the afternoon, set out on a camel ride to the highest dunes of Erg Chigaga, where you can witness a breathtaking sunset over the vast desert landscape.

Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the camp, as per the previous night

Day 4 | Erg Chigaga Desert – Foum Zguid – Tazenakht – Taroudant

Wake up early to admire the sunrise and take a morning stroll around the dunes, soaking in the serenity of the desert.

Later, set off across the Hamada (rocky desert) and traverse the vast, dry Lake Iriki. Along the way, enjoy a traditional tea with nomads and take the opportunity to search for fossils.

Rejoin the paved road at Foum Zguid, where you can stop for a tasty lunch by the pool at Bab Rimal or opt for a more traditional kefta meal in the village.

Continue westward, arriving at Tazenakht, a village renowned for its huge selection of Berber rugs. This town is a key trading hub, attracting merchants from across Morocco who come to buy and sell handcrafted carpets.

Arrive in Taroudant by late afternoon and check into your accommodation. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a beautiful hotel either in the Medina or nestled in the palm groves nearby.

Day 5 | Taroudant – Agadir – Taghazout

Start your journey by departing from Taroudant and heading toward Agadir. Begin your exploration with a visit to Souk Al Had, a vibrant market offering a wide variety of goods, from local crafts to fresh produce.

Next, make your way to the Kasbah Agadir Oufella, a historic fortress perched on a hill, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the city and coastline.

After immersing yourself in Agadir’s rich culture and history, continue your journey to the picturesque surfer village of Taghazout. Known for its laid-back atmosphere and stunning beaches, Taghazout is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the coastal beauty.

Spend some time exploring the village, interacting with locals, and soaking in the serene surroundings. This day offers a perfect blend of culture, history, and relaxation, making for a well-rounded travel experience.

Day 6 | Taghazout – Essaouira

After breakfast, you have the option to take a traditional caleche (horse-drawn carriage) ride around the city walls or explore the souks, where you can find some of the best argan oil and honey in Morocco.

Alternatively, you can choose to depart early for Essaouira to make the most of your time in this charming coastal city. No strict plans are needed—just go with the flow and enjoy the experience.

Follow the scenic Atlantic coastline as you make your way to Essaouira, and keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing goats along the route.

Upon arrival, settle into a beautiful riad in the Medina, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7 | Essaouira – Marrakech or Agadir

After breakfast, spend the morning exploring the stunning Medina of Essaouira, known for its white-washed houses, vibrant art galleries, bustling fishing port, and lively food stalls. Wander through the European-style fortifications and soak in the city's laid-back, seaside atmosphere.

If time allows, enjoy a peaceful moment on a deserted beach in the surroundings of Essaouira, taking in the fresh ocean breeze.

In the afternoon, return to Marrakech or Agadir, depending on your preference, marking the end of your Morocco Desert Tour.
